The Arsenal
Watertown, Massachusetts
The Arsenal on the Charles is one of the largest speculative office redevelopment in the Greater Boston area. It offers tenants a unique campus environment inside of Route 128 with abundant green space, including the existing Olmstead Gardens. The historic buildings have been fully renovated while preserving the architectural integrity of the structures. This site served for nearly 200 years as a U.S. Army Arsenal. The name of the site was the Watertown Arsenal. Buildings at the Watertown Arsenal dated back to as early as 1851. Additional development continued to take place during the late 19th century and during both World Wars. Originally the site was used to manufacture cannons and artillery. Since the late 1960s, however, it has been used for the research, development and testing of new materials for weapon systems and, more recently, produced armor for use in presidential limousines.
